Day 4: Santa Rosa, NM to Holbrook, AZ

Quiet day on the road. Started the morning by buying fireworks for New Year’s. Picked up some snakes to send to my brother since they remind me of childhood. Then we headed on to Santa Fe, which was kind of disappointing this time around (or maybe it was because it was cold).

Spent the night at the Travelodge in Holbrook, run by an Indian family that is super nice (we got a $10 discount!). Had a super tasty meal at El Rancho, where our low blood sugared selves feasted on some pretty awesome and spicy homemade salsa, followed by delicious strawberry margaritas, and then a taco/tamale/enchilada plate. Waitstaff was super attentive too. Happily stuffed, we rolled our way back to the motel where Allison passed out before midnight and I brought in the New Year watching the Burn Notice marathon on TNT. Another successful New Year’s.

Highlight of this leg of the trip: Realizing that my iPod did work and catching up on Moth podcasts.
